The/Studio: Introduce yourself. Tell our readers a little bit about who you are!
Tana: RunGoodGear.com is poker’s premier online apparel store. The RunGood brand was founded during the 2012 World Series of Poker and brought to national recognition with appearances on ESPN by RunGood Pros Huy Nguyen during the 2012 WSOP National Championship FT and Robert Salaburu during the 2012 WSOP Main Event FT. Follow up appearances were made on ESPN by RunGood through Jay Farber’s fan rail during the 2013 WSOP ME FT and Jorryt Van Hoof, William Tonking, and Daniel Sindelar’s fan rails during the 2014 WSOP Main Event Final Table. The brand is based on a popular poker term, RunGood, which can be interpreted in many ways. The general definition of RunGood in the poker community is being in a state where nothing can go wrong.
The/Studio: What an awesome brand! I love poker but I am horrible at it! What does your business do?
Tana: Our Mission is to provide players with stylish and comfortable clothes for on and off the felt. In March of 2014, RunGood expanded its brand to the tournament circuit scene. The inaugural stop occurred at Downstream Resort & Casino followed up with a secondary stop at Hard Rock Casino Tulsa. In 2015, the RunGood Poker Series will expand to three stops during the spring. The/Studio: What about your business are you most proud of?
Tana: Each year RunGoodGear.com brings together a roster of individuals who bring the best out of the game, whether its big cashes, tournament wins, or positivity to the game. We track and monitor individuals performances throughout the poker circuits around the nation and invite selected individuals to the team before the start of the next WSOP.
The/Studio: That must be so exciting! What are some of the greatest challenges you face with your business?
Tana: The poker industry is a bit of the wild wild west still. Companies build and fall in a blink of an eye. Our biggest challenge was convincing our market that we are here to stay. This upcoming World Series of Poker will mark our fourth year as a company.
The/Studio: 4 years and growing strong! Congratulations on your company’s upcoming anniversary. Where do you see your business in 10 years?
Tana: We would like to see RunGoodGear.com become a brand for even those who don’t play poker. In ten years we see RunGoodGear.com to be to Poker what DC is to skateboarding or Quiksilver is to surfing.
The/Studio: I could definitely see that happening! What is the story behind the custom patches that you produced with The/Studio?
Tana: This year, RunGoodGear.com partnered with Hard Rock Tulsa Casino’s poker room in crafting a specialty jacket where individuals could earn specialty patches for certain accomplishments made while playing.
The/Studio: What a cool idea! How are you going to use the custom patches?
Tana: The patches are designed to bring excitement, intrigue, and a sense of accomplishment to poker players playing at Hard Rock Tulsa.
The/Studio: Describe the custom patches. What does the design represent?
Tana: There is a patch called “Marathon Man” which can be earned through playing a certain number of hours straight. There are trophy patches as well to display on jackets for various tournaments won.
