On August 6th 2011 tragedy struck in Afghanistan and 30 US soldiers and 1 US military working dog were killed when their Chinook helicopter was struck by enemy fire. It was the most devastating blow to US troops during the entire war in Afghanistan. Inspired by the valor of our troops a grassroots movement took place in which up to date over 430 gyms have hosted events and have so far raised over $300,000 for the families of the fallen soldiers.
In commemoration of these soldiers on August 5th 2012 soldiers, veterans, spouses of soldiers and civilians that support our troops took part in a 31 mile walk in Washington DC to remember these soldiers as well as raise funds for the families of these soldiers. You can check out this raw You Tube video of the walk to see the embroidered patch that we produced for this event: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kl4_u0ZCTU. The embroidered American flag patch featured in the beginning of the video was produced by Patches by The/Studio. The patch features the American Flag, with the writing “31 Heroes 31 Miles” to commemorate the event, as well as a merrowed border and a Velcro backing.
At Patches by The/Studio we are truly proud to have been a part of making these patches. As the CEO once I found out that we produced these patches I offered this organization a 50% discount on the patches if they need to reorder them in the future, because this is truly for a good cause.
