7 Fashion Dos & Don’ts for Festival Season March 7, 2017 - by Matthew Eley
With South by Southwest already behind us, festival season is here. Start off the legendary summer of 2017 with these pointers on what’s hot and what’s not in the world of festival fashion:
# 7 Don’t Get Cheap Flip Flops
The temptation of that $1 pair is strong. But nothing can bring you back from the despair of a broken flip-flop strap three hours into a ten-hour festival. Holding the strap with your toes while you lunge along with your friends gets old, fast.
Why make anyone suffer? Order custom high-quality flip-flops or slides with tailored size, material and stylization like custom prints and multi-color layerings. It’s quality foot fashion that lasts the summer, not just the first set.
# 6 Wear a Hat
Not just to hide any bad baseball cap tans you’ve gotten at the beach (but please do), but more importantly to keep yourself cool. A quality cap save your face or neck some sunburn pain during the day and week after. We know a place where the size is always right and the shipping is free.
# 5 Wear Pins
Pins are in. On hats, vests, shirts, backpacks, fanny packs and more. These little guys pack a whole lot of personality in a dirt-cheap punch. Good manufacturers offer sweet options like full-photo printing, custom moulding, complex enameling and more.
# 4 Don’t Be the Person with a Huge Bag
You’re going festival-ing, not camping. If you’re lugging around your usual purse or a backpack worthy of the Yukon, you’re going to be hot, grumpy and tired. And the only thing worse than carrying a bag with everything in it is losing it.
Ditch the pack and opt for washable, reusable canvas totes if you’re wanting to sling something stylish across your shoulder. Our totes are primed for soft hues and vibrant embroidery or screenprinting. Or rock a hands-free drawstring bag that holds all your gear while offering the same potential for customization.
# 3 Don’t Wear Long Sleeves
There are plenty of ways to stay warm in the evening without suffering during the daytime (see #2). So stay cool with a custom t-shirt while still standing out from the crowd with a tailor-made T with full-length sublimation printing, wild embroidery or maybe a Weird Al-approved patch.
# 2 Bring Something for the Evening
After a day of standing in the heat, summer evenings can be a bit of a cold spell.
But jackets are bulky in totes or drawstring bags. A light scarf, though, is perfect around your neck or draped across your shoulders and folds easily into your bag. Our lightweight dye-sublimated scarves are perfect for summertime and can feature whatever image you want along their length.
# 1 Do Something Different From Last Year
Don’t forget, festivals are about acting the opposite of how you do at your job, where you do the same thing everyday. We say be bold and innovative. Keep your beer chilled with personalized can coolers. Spice up your usual festival t-shirts or jackets with fresh new patches of your favorite bands, alma mater or hometown. Avoid misplacing your keys with a handy belt clip doing triple duty as a fashion item and a bottle opener.
We’ll see you this summer.
