I would characterize myself as a T.V. and movie buff. I go to the movies 4 times a month and I watch my favorite T.V shows 5 times a week. It’s something I look forward to and it is my favorite past time.
Ever since I started working for Patches by The/Studio, I have noticed how much patches are used in film and T.V. In fact, I always count how many patches I see during movies or T.V shows. It’s become a fun game, one that entertains me but annoys my boyfriend. It’s so exciting to see my three passions intertwine. I always think to myself, what would Patches by The/Studio do to make the patch show up better on the big or small screen. Sometimes the patches are perfect and there is nothing that I would change.
Today, I am going to share with you my favorite custom patches featured on a T.V show or a movie. Just think of me as your patch critic!
The first patch you see was featured in the 1988 movie, Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis. The patches were worn by Reginnald VelJohnson , who played Sergeant Al Powell. These patches are very realistic, they look exactly like real police patches.
Favorite Quote From Die Hard:
Hans Gruber: ” This time John Wayne does not walk off into the sunset with Grace Kelly.”
John McClane: ” That was Gary Cooper. ”
The second patch you see was featured in the 2004 movie, Ladder 49, starring John Travolta and Joaquin Phoenix. This is a movie about firefighters, the whole cast wore custom fire patches. If you have not seen this movie, you must see it!
Favorite Quote From Ladder 49:
Linda Morrison: ” Have you ever considered baby-sitting full time”
Chief Kennedy:” What do you think I do at the firehouse? ”
The third patch you see was featured in the 1989 film, Troop Beverly Hills, starring Shelly Long and Craig T. Nelson. This movie is about a Beverly Hills housewife who takes control of her daughter’s girl scout troop. The custom girl scout patches featured in this movie are awesome!
Favorite Quote From Troop Beverly Hills:
Phyllis: ” Her recommendations for a campsite were totally unsuitable. There were no outlets. And there was dirt, and bugs, and… and it rains there. So anyway, we’ve found a place that’s much more us: the Beverly Hills Hotel. ”
The fourth patch you see was featured in the 2012 film, Moonrise Kingdom, starring Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward. This movie is about a scout who runs away with his girlfriend and a search party is formed to find them. The custom patches in this movie are typical scout patches. They did a great job replicating them.
Favorite Quote From Moonrise Kingdom:
Sam: “I guess we better try to pretend we’re struggling over our decision for a minute before we go back over there and tell him.
Suzy: ” Maybe he’s right. It could be a mistake.”
Sam: “What? Why? How?”
Suzy: “Being married. Sometimes it seems sad to me. It might be better to just go steady permanently.”
The fifth patch you see is featured on the popular FX series, Sons of Anarchy, starring Charles Hunnam and Katey Sagal. I actually just started watching this show and I was so impressed with the biker patches, they are truly amazing and so is the show!
Favorite Quote From Son’s of Anarchy:
John Teller: “The true outlaw finds the balance between the passion in his heart and the reason in his mind. The solution is always an equal mix of might and right”
