Meet Eddie
The/Studio: Introduce yourself. Tell our readers a little bit about who you are!
Eddie: I am 1SG (RET) Eddie Denney, During the cold war period there were Special weapons platoon’s stationed with the Engineer Units in USAREUR these platoon’s had 2 low yield Nuclear weapon’s that were called a SADAM (Small Atomic Demolition Muntion) and a MADAM (Medium Atomic Demolition Munition). In approximately 1974 these units were removed from the Batallion’s and placed in 2 Separate Company’s, One in V Corps (The 567th Eng Co ADM) an One in VII Corp (275th Eng Co ADM). We wore a patch depicting the units on the breast pocket of our uniform’s. In approx. 1988 these units were disbanded an the weapons were destroyed. There are a lot of individuals wanting these patch’s,so if they are on your site you should receive a lot of orders. All of this has been declassified an now is public record.
Thank you Eddie for sharing your story with us and thank you for your service. This was so fascinating.
