1. From hobby to business

What began as a personal experiment quickly grew into something much larger. Nancy, the founder of No Design, often struggled to find clothing, décor, or furniture pieces that matched the exact color, shape, or quality she wanted. Instead of compromising, she decided to create her own.

The turning point came when Nancy designed and produced a uniquely shaped rug for her living room. The project was a success, and soon friends and family began asking her for custom rugs. As requests spread beyond her circle, Nancy realized this could become something bigger than just a hobby.

Today, No Design creates not only custom rugs but also framed textile art. The name reflects both flexibility and humor, derived from Nancy’s initials N.O. and inspired by the look of U.S. street signs like “No Outlet.” An actual metal street sign reading “no design” has since become part of the brand’s playful identity and merchandise.
